14 Mar Yahoo Customers Affected by Breach Can Sue, Says California Judge
California judge Lucy Koh recently ruled that Yahoo customers who had been affected by the three breaches which had struck the internet company can sue.
Verizon, which had acquired Yahoo last year, bid to have claims including breach of contract, deceit and concealment, and negligence dropped. However, Koh said that customers could have taken measures to protect themselves had they been informed by Yahoo at the soonest possible opportunity.
The data of around 3 billion users had been exposed when Yahoo was hacked in three separate occasions, which the company only admitted to years after the incident.
