Xiaomi to Collect More Personal Info in New US Privacy Policy

Chinese phone maker Xiaomi recently announced that it has updated its privacy policy which will take effect on May 25, along with the GDPR.

Under the new policy, Xiaomi says it will have to collect personal information from US users including driving license and passport details, along with financial information such as bank account or credit card numbers. Social information including current employer, current job title and education background, in addition to IMEI numbers, location, log and app information will also be collected.

It was mentioned in the new policy that while personal information will not be sold to third parties, it may be used for promotional or marketing activities.
