11 Oct WhatsApp Fixes Video Call Vulnerability
WhatsApp announced this week that it has released a fix for a bug that could have allowed attackers to take over the app once a call is answered.
The flaw, found both in iOS and Android versions of the app, was discovered last August by Natalie Silvanovich, a security researcher with Google’s Project Zero.
Silvanovich said that the issue was caused by memory corruption in WhatsApp’s non-WebRTC video conferencing implementation. WhatsApp’s web client was not affected since it uses WebRTC for video calls.
