User Outcry Prompt Gaming Companies to Remove Analytics App

A number of gaming companies recently decides to remove an analytics package called Redshell bundled with their games after receiving backlash from their users.

Discovered by several users on Reddit and Steam, the software development kit (SDK) is said to create a fingerprint for each gamer that logs information about their online personas and gaming rigs.

Majority in the gaming community had reportedly filed complaints with the game publishers on various online forums, prompting them to drop Redshell from their games.

Hugely popular games such as Elder Scrolls Online have already pledged to remove the SDK. However, there are still a number of other games that still use it as of June 16, 2018.
