US Chamber of Commerce Joins Privacy Debate

The US Chamber of Commerce recently released a proposal which it says could inform the development of new federal privacy laws.

The set of guidelines are said to reflect the agenda of the US business sector. The top lobby group is reportedly pushing to have federal regulations supersede state laws, and for the rules to be applied across industries.

The group also called on Congress to “encourage collaboration as opposed to an adversarial enforcement system.” since most companies are complaining that California’s privacy law allows individuals to sue them over certain privacy violations.
