12 Jun UK Security Minister Pushes for Digital IDs
British security minister Ben Wallace recently called for the implementation of digital identification which he said would be the solution to the “mob rule” and lawlessness brought by online anonymity.
Wallace also suggested that internet companies can use the authentication measures used by banks to prevent bullying and grooming. He also criticized Silicon Valley companies like WhatsApp and told them to give back to society for the negative impact of their technology.
Wallace added that “There should be an element of the ‘polluter pays’. You contribute to the cost your technology is engendering.”
