22 Nov UK Data Watchdog Appoints AI Expert to Help Build Privacy Framework
The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office recently announced that it had appointed its in-house expert Dr Ruben Binns as its first Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Binns will take the lead in researching the effects of artificial intelligence on privacy. He will also help create and implement an official framework for auditing algorithms, as well as studying how the organization itself can use the technology.
An Oxford computer science researcher, Binns has previously advised the European Commission on AI, machine learning, and personal data issues.
