15 Aug UK Data Protection Watchdog Chooses IBM Privacy Expert to Head Tech Policy Team
The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office had reportedly chosen this week Simon McDougall to head its policy and innovation team.
Formerly from Deloitte, McDougall had been the global lead for a privacy and data protection at Promontory Financial, a risk and compliance firm which was bought out by IBM.
McDougall will be in charge of coming up with new approaches to information rights practices, promoting compliant processing of personal data as a core element of new business systems, and creating a new innovation department within the ICO.
The watchdog, which had been put under pressure to show technical know-how in regulation of tech firms, is expected to benefit from McDougall’s expertise
