Uber Driver Caught Streaming Passengers on Twitch

A Missouri Uber driver named Jason Gargac recently re-ignited the discussion around privacy and ethical streaming after he was caught live-streaming passengers on Twitch using his dashboard cam.

Uber and Lyft both refer to local regulation on the matter of recording riders, and it has been pointed out that US federal law regarding filming people without their consent is a bit more complicated when the vehicle is operate by a private citizen.

However, Gargac defended himself by saying that passengers should not have reasonable expectation of privacy in his car. Missouri also operates on one-party consent laws, which says that people can record phone calls or conversations so long as they are a party to the conversation.
