Two Thirds of Americans Seek Greater Privacy Protections from Gov’t

According to a recent survey from software analytics company SAS, more than two thirds of consumers in the US want the government to protect data privacy and are ready for regulations similar to EU’s GDPR.

Polling 525 US respondents in July 2018, SAS found 66 percent have already taken steps to secure

their data, while 73 percent said that they are more concerned about their privacy now compared to a year ago.

In addition, 64 percent said that they feel their data is not as secure today compared to a few years ago, while as high as 83 percent would like regulation giving them the right to compel corporations not to sell or share their data.
