19 Dec Twitter Flaw Exposes Phone Number Country Code
Twitter had reportedly exposed by accident the ability to look up an account’s phone number country code which could have been exploited by malicious actors to figure out which country the account is from.
It is said that the leak could be disastrous for whistleblowers or political dissidents as it could expose their location. However, the leak is likely not enough to trigger GDPR fines since country codes are not necessarily considered sensitive personal information.
Twitter however contacted those who were affected by the issue and assured that full phone numbers had not been leaked.
