Twitter Denies Leaking Information on Slain Saudi Journalist

Twitter denied last week that it had leaked information on Saudi journalist Turki bin Abdul Aziz al-Jasser who was reportedly tortured and killed for running an account which exposed human rights violations by Saudi royalty and authorities.

Some users have claimed that Al-Jasser was caught using information his enemies obtained from Twitter’s office in Dubai. However, Twitter responded and said that it rigorously limits access to sensitive account information to a small group of employees with extensive security and privacy training, and no other personnel have access to such information regardless of where they operate.

The company also clarified that while it has teams around the world who are tasked to improve the health of the public conversation, none are based in the MENA region including Twitter’s Dubai office.
