05 Jul Trump’s Election Integrity Panel to be Sued Over Attempts to Collect Voter Data
A commission created by US President Donald Trump to gather voter data is being sued by a privacy advocate group.
Last week, Trump’s Advisory Commission on election Integrity asked officials from 50 states to provide voter information, including names, addresses, birthdays, past convictions, political affiliations, and even their voting history.
In response, the Electronic Privacy Information Center filed a complaint in a Washington, DC federal court, stating the demands are “excessive”, “unnecessary” and violates the informational privacy rights of millions of Americans.
The White House must respond to the center’s request for a temporary halt on the data gathering before Wednesday 4 P.M ET
