Trump Nominates Backdoor Search Supporter to Chair Privacy Board

President Donald Trump recently nominated Adam Klein as chairman of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board. Klein is known to have opposed the warrant rule that requires authorities to have a warrant to be able to legally search American communications which are collected “incidentally”.

Klein was criticized by privacy advocates as being “overly deferential” to the intelligence community. Robyn Greene, policy counsel and government affairs lead at the New America Foundation’s Open Technology Institute, cited Klein’s position on the matter of warrantless query as an example, saying that he is highly unlikely to raise the concerns of the privacy community.
