27 Sep Trump Administration Seeks Public Feedback for Data Privacy Framework Proposal
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) recently made public a 7-part proposal which details the Trump administration’s goals on transparency, security and control of personal data collected by internet firms.
The NTIA called on interested stakeholders to provide their comments on the proposed framework which was put forward last Tuesday by the Commerce Department. NTIA Deputy Administrator Diane Rinaldo says that the framework draws on the EU’s GDPR, but takes a different approach to achieve the same goal.
NTIA Administrator David Redl also said that there is a clamor for the administration to take on leadership on issues of domestic consumer privacy domestically, and for continued global US leadership.
