Top Arizona Prosecutor to Probe Google’s Location Tracking Practices

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich has reportedly enlisted an outside law firm to help investigate Google’s potential violation of the Consumer Fraud Act related to tracking and storage of consumer location. The search giant was recently found to be tracking the location of Android users who have turned off ‘location services’ on their devices.

While spokesperson Katie Conner declined to confirm if Google will indeed be probed, she did say that consumer data privacy and cyber security has always been a priority for General Brnovich, and his office will be moving forward to retain outside counsel in light of recent revelations on the search giant’s location tracking practices.
