06 Sep Thousands of Flawed MikroTik Routers Hijacked
Researchers from 360 Netlab revealed that somewhere around 370,000 MikroTik routers have been hijacked through the CVE-2018-14847 security vulnerability.
Even though a patch had already been released last August, around 7,500 routers were still caught directly forwarding user data, while 239,000 have had their Socks4 proxies covertly enabled.
360 Netlab added that they could not ascertain why the tampering had been done. However, they said that it was curious as to why the attacker is paid attention to the network management protocol regular users barely use.
