11 Sep Thousands of British Airways Customers Blocked from Online Shopping
Thousands of British Airways customers were left unable to shop online after their banks had initiated measures to prevent the leaked financial details of their customers’ cards from being fraudulently used.
Banks such as Barclays and Santander ordered new cards for their customers and said that the existing ones can only be used offline.
Meanwhile, NatWest, Lloyds, Nationwide and HSBC said that they will only cancel cards that are used suspiciously.
Experts say that under the new data protection laws, the airline is likely to lose around £1 billion on fines and compensation.
