Tencent Says Industry Must Tackle Privacy Problems

Tencent senior executive vice president Seng Yee Lau recently remarked that the tech industry need to address mounting privacy concerns of users, as well as the risks brought by advancing technologies.

Lau, along with other executives from the tech industry, went to Paris this week to meet with French president Emmanuel Macron. On the GDPR, Lau says that companies should not avoid it, but rather put in a concerted effort in learning more about privacy issues.

Lau also urged governments and companies to invest more in education, put efforts in reducing inequalities, and ensure that technologies like online games and social networks do not negatively affect society.
