23 Oct Tech Industry Group Releases Privacy Framework for Policymakers
The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), an industry group representing companies including Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Facebook, released this week a user data privacy framework which is intended to inform policymakers in the US and abroad.
The ITI says that the framework was inspired by Europe’s GDPR which says that individuals should have full control over their personal data. The framework is also built on principles such as enhanced transparency, increased consumer control, company accountability and expanded responsibility, and the promotion of security.
ITI president Dean Garfield said that the framework is the result of dozens of meetings with outside groups, experts and policy makers from ITI member companies.
