Symantec to Open New Privacy Research Center in Germany

Earlier this week, cybersecurity firm Symantec Corp. announced that it will be opening a new privacy & data protection laboratory in Saarbrucken, Germany, to better address the growing concerns of consumers worldwide for the security of their data.

The center will be focusing on topics including the consumer’s right to be forgotten, behavioral intelligence, learned behaviors (AI), image recognition, rights related to minors, reputation, identity, and responsible anonymity.

The company added that research from the lab should help them in their efforts to give consumers greater control over their personal data and their online “footprints,” as well as provide governments and corporations more tools to help fulfill their responsibilities as custodians of personal data.
