28 Jun Study Says Google, Facebook Trick Users Into Sharing More Data
A new study by the Norwegian Consumer Council says that Facebook and Google are continuing to manipulate people into sharing more data despite the advent of EU’s new data protection laws.
In a study entitled “Deceived by Design”, the council found that both companies often set as default the least privacy-friendly option since users rarely change pre-selected settings.
The council also said that in many occasions, users are given very few actual choices, and that comprehensive data sharing is accepted just by using their services.
