Startup Raises $8.5 Million for AI Data Protection Platform

A startup called Cognigo recently raised $8.5 million in a Series A round which was led by an Israel-based crowdfunding platform OurCrowd, with participation from privacy firm Prosegur and State of Mind Ventures.

Cognigo says that it can help businesses become GDPR compliant in days instead of months, as well as protect critical data assets and prevent the leakage of personally identifiable information outside of the company’s network using pre-trained language models for data classification.

The company adds that their model has been trained to detect common categories such as patents, payslips, or contracts, and companies can also provide their own data samples for further training. The system is also completely human-free and will only require human intervention during the configuration process.
