10 Jul South Carolina Voter List for Sale Long Before Trump’s Commission Wanted the Data
US President Donald Trump has received significant backlash for requesting personal voter info through a commission tasked to investigate voter fraud called “Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity”.
But a report says that for years, South Carolina’s State Election Commission had been selling voter’s information “legally and without much controversy”.
The voter information is readily available, but only for South Carolina voters. The State Election Commission is required to provide voter data and is even authorized to charge a fee for the handling of facts.
South Carolinians typically buy voter info for polling firms or political campaigns. It costs about $2500 to purchase the voter data of the whole state.
