16 Jan Singapore PDPC Issues Largest Ever Fine to IHiS
Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission handed this week the Integrated Health Information Systems (IHiS) a fine of $750,000 for the recent data breach which compromised the health data of around 1.5 million patients.
SingHealth was also penalized $250,000 since it was responsible for the patient database system. The two are subsidiaries of MOH Holdings, the holding company through which the Singapore government owns the corporatized healthcare institutions.
In an official statement, SingHealth Group CEO Prof Ivy Ng apologized and accepted the fine, saying that they are already working to improve their cyber security governance structures so they can better respond to privacy risks.
