Singapore Data Protection Gets Boost from New Collaboration

Singapore’s local pipeline for data protection officers is due to get a boost from a recently announced collaboration that will be focusing on providing training for businesses and workers in the sector.

The Data Protection Excellence Network, which was formed by the data protection software firm Straits Interactive and the SMU Academy, the professional training arm of Singapore Management University, will be working to provide resources, hands-on training and professional certification courses for data protection officers.

NTUC assistant secretary-general Melvin Yong says the initiative will help fill Singapore’s need for data protection officers which may reach up to 10,000 within the next three years.
