15 Sep Senator Wants Privacy Guarantee on Apple’s Face ID data
U.S Senator Al Franken sent a letter to Apple requesting the company to provide more information on the Face ID system, a new feature on the iPhoneX that allows users to access their phone with the use of facial recognition. The senator voiced concerns on how the new feature will affect user security and privacy. He also asked how the company will be processing the data and any what are the steps they are taking to further protect the users.
Face ID will be available on the iPhoneX. The feature utilizes a system similar to Kinect to scan the user’s face and allows a matching faceprint to unlock the device.
