19 Jan Sen. Recto Calls for Probe on City CCTV Project
Sen. Ralph Recto filed a resolution this week calling for an investigation of a Chinese government-assisted project where around 12,000 CCTV cameras will be installed in various public locations within Metro Manila and Davao City.
In Senate Resolution 990, Recto said that the “Safe Philippines Project” should be reviewed thoroughly by the government as it sure to have an impact on national security and the public’s interest. The senator also warned that the Chinese government has allegedly been involved in espionage and hacking activities in recent years.
Meanwhile, Sen. JV Ejercito remarked that the project is likely to be rejected by the Senate
