29 Jun Select PH Companies Required by NPC to Submit Security Officer Info
A number of select companies has been required by the National Privacy Comission (NPC) to provide details on their data-protection officer by September 9, 2017. This ensures the public can access the information via the NPC website in the event that a company mishandles their personal information.
The NPC identifies the contact center industry of the Philippines as their priority focus for the compliance of the Republic Act 10173 or the Data Privacy Act 2012, given that the country is considered the 2nd best destination for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) jobs.
Raymund Liboro, National Privacy Commission Chairman, says that the registration is mandatory for companies with processing personal information of at least 1000 records and employs more 250 or more employees.
