SEC Orders Listed Organizations to Comply with Data Privacy Laws

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Markets and Securities Regulation Department said this week that it had asked the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), the Philippine Dealing & Exchange Corp. (PDEx), listed firms, and other market institutions to submit a data privacy compliance report within 30 days.

According to the regulator, the institutions must show their compliance to the Data Privacy Act (DPA) of 2012, the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), and the 2015 Securities Regulation Code (SRC) which requires market participants to have a comprehensive information technology plan.
