05 Sep San Francisco’s Surveillance Tool to Help with Homeless Problem
San Francisco is reportedly launching a high-tech platform which can be used to track every homeless person in the city and identify their needs.
Under the initiative of Mayor London Breed, the ONE System (Online Navigation and Entry System) will help alleviate San Francisco’s homeless crisis by aggregating health, housing, jail, and counseling history data of every homeless person in the city into one platform. The database can then be viewed by outreach professionals to view the state of the homeless in real time.
It is said that a similar program in Salt Lake City helped reduce chronic homelessness by 91% within one decade.
