14 Jul Researchers Clarify Misconceptions About Incognito Browsing Mode
Researchers from the University of Chicago and the Leibniz University of Hanover recently published a study that seeks to clarify misconceptions surrounding the use of the incognito browsing mode.
The study found that 46.5% of the participants thought that bookmarks saved in private mode would not persist in later sessions, and 40.2% believed that websites would not be able to estimate a user’s location. 27.1% used private mode to protect against viruses and malware than standard, while there are still a number of those that use private mode to avoid detection by their ISPs, employers, and the government. Additionally, 56.3% of participants incorrectly thnk that browsing in private mode would hide their search history.
