28 Dec Report Says Personal Data Kept by NSW Government at Risk
A recent report by Auditor-General Margaret Crawford revealed that a number of New South Wales agencies are failing to employ proper data protection measures, and are therefore putting sensitive confidential information at risk.
Crawford’s report established that around 68% of NSW agencies have not managed privileged access to their systems, and one did not even have a formal process to create, modify or deactivate privileged users.
The auditor general warned that these agencies may breach NSW laws, as well as policies and the international standards that they reference.
