19 Sep Private Firms, Government Agencies Face May Face Security Defence Probe
Private companies and government agencies in the Philippines have been warned by the National Privacy Commission (NPC) that the institutions will be checked for compliance should they fail to register their data processing systems on the given deadline.
NPC reported that a probe will include operation inspections, interviews, analysis of documents, and other related activities to evaluate the privacy culture of the company.
There are two phases in the registration. The first required Data Protection Officer (DPO) registration, officers who will become point persons in privacy concerns within the institution. The second phase is the registration of data processing systems whose deadline has been set on March 8, 2018.
