24 Dec Privacy Issues Surface in Assessment of DHS National Vetting Center
Intelligence experts have reportedly expressed their concerns over the results of the Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) conducted by DHS Privacy Office and National Vetting Center (NVC) director on the vetting program which revealed that inaccurate data won’t be erased.
The PIA’s revelation also indicated that the inaccurate data “must be clear from the totality of the updated record which data was found to be inaccurate and which is correct.”
One risk that was pointed out was that individuals could be left unaware of the NVC, its purpose, how it operates, and what the potential impacts it has on individuals and their data, since the vetting activities will involve sensitive nature of intelligence, law enforcement, and other information.
