Privacy Czar Tells Canadians to be Concerned Over US Border Searches

Ottawa, Canada – Canadian Privacy commissioner Daniel Thierren said that Canadians should be very concerned over inspections by US border agents, especially with regards to their electronic devices.

Thierren reminded Canadians crossing to the US that they should consider the kind of exposure they might subject their information to, given that US border officials can search mobile devices and even compel the user to give up his passwords under American law.
