10 Feb Privacy Campaigners Raise Concerns on Google-Nest Merge
Earlier this week, tech giant Alphabet announced that it will be merging its Google and Nest divisions to build software and hardware for a more “thoughtful home”.
However, privacy campaigners such as The Big Brother Watch group expressed their worries about the reorganization, noting that it may bring Google’s notoriety for harvesting information into consumer homes which may expand the search giant’s monopoly on personal data.
In response, Nest co-founder Tony Fadell reassured that they will be transparent with the consumer with regards to the effects of the integration and handling of data.
