UK cybersecurity company Upstream Systems recently revealed that a popular Chinese-made Android weather app had been collecting excessive amounts of data from its users.
The app, which was developed by TCL Communication Technology Holdings Ltd., was discovered to have been siphoning off detailed data from users, including their geographic locations, email addresses and their device’s unique identifier number,
While TCL had apparently updated the app to stop subscribing users to various services, it is still collects extraordinarily specific data from its users.
