Politicians Digitally Monitor Voters, New Study Finds

A new study by Baltimore cyber security company TrackOff revealed that a lot of politicians and candidates do track web users.

TrackOff said that as high as 95 percent of politicians they studied use tracking technology on their websites, with around 48 percent using Google Analytics and Facebook tracking at 42 percent.

Some of the websites use fingerprinting tech developed by Facebook and Google which serve ads that follow users around online and leave trackers in devices and browsers that collect huge amounts of data. The gathered information can then be sold to third-parties that may use it for abuse.
