Personal Privacy an Outdated Concept for Marketers

According to Episerver’s 2018 Reimagining Commerce report, around 27% of UK marketers consider individual privacy to be an outdated concept. This is in contrast with the 94% of consumers that say they would not be willing to exchange their data for more relevant or personalized product recommendations.

The study which polled 1000 UK consumers and 100 marketers showed that only 40% of marketers think that some privacy has to be sacrificed for the best experiences, while 58% say that consumers value customer experience over their personal privacy.

However, as high as 96% of consumers say that they would not share their phone numbers. 93% said they would not share their location while 98% said that they would not knowingly provide access to their social media data.
