06 Jul Password Manager Horcrux is Made for “Paranoid” Users
University of Virginia researchers successfully developed a prototype for a new password manager.
“Horcrux” creators Hannah Li and David Evans describes it as a security and privacy-focused password manager for “paranoids”.
The application works by inserting dummy credentials on web pages, as opposed to normal password managers that add user data to the login field.
Upon submitting the form, the data in the form is still fake, but Horcrux intercepts the submitted form and changes the fake information to the true username and password combination.
At present, password manager Horcrux is ready for use as a Firefox add-on that is available from this GitHub repo.
