Opera Browser Founder Expresses Online Privacy Worries

Last Thursday, Opera browser founder Jon von Tetzchner expressed his worries on online data collection by tech companies.

Speaking to the media at the Web Summit conference in Lisbon, he compared the current situation to George Orwell’s novel ‘1984’ and said that everyone’s data is being collected. Coupled with the lack of awareness from users, he described the combination as “a perfect storm of a really bad idea”.

Von Tetzchner also revealed that his new browser, Vivaldi, includes privacy features that other big browsers don’t have. He added that a mobile version of the browser is already in the works.
