OnePlus Phones Silently Send Back User Data to Manufacturer

A software engineer recently posted that OnePlus mobile phones send back detailed information to its home server without alerting its user.

Christopher Moore said that the Chinese smartphones send back data including device IMEI, phone numbers, MAC addresses and mobile network.

The company responded that they were merely collecting analytics data which won’t be shared with third parties.

Users can turn off this data collection system by opting out of the User Experience Program, which can be found under the phone’s Advanced Settings.
