13 Dec NPC to Intensify Crackdown on Non-Compliant Firms
NPC Chief of Policy Review Division, Vida Zora Bocar, said this week that the agency will start an intensified campaign against firms not complying with the Data Privacy Act starting next year.
Bocar said that the first stage would involve a privacy sweep where the agency would check company websites, applications, and mobile services. The audited firms may also be asked to submit documents on their privacy policy.
Bocar added that if the company fails to pass the two steps, NPC will conduct an on-site visit to monitor how the company handles personal data.
The NPC says it will be focusing on sectors that are “heavy data collectors,” such as schools, banks, and government agencies.
