23 May NPC to Conduct New Privacy Inspections on Local Firms
National Privacy Commission chief Raymund Enriquez Liboro revealed this week that his department is planning to carry out a compliance sweep advisory to cover more local companies, ensuring that they are adhering to standards developed under the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
Liboro said that they will be inspecting company websites, applications, and mobile services. Their findings will then determine if further inspections and full-scale compliance checks are still needed.
The Commission will also be holding its first National Data Privacy Conference next week. Liboro also mentioned that they are planning to create a Philippine Data Privacy Council, which will oversee business process outsourcing, government agencies, banks, telcos, health, pharmaceuticals, insurance, hotels and other major industries.
