NPC Tells Telcos to Ensure Data Privacy & Protection

The National Privacy Commission told telecommunications companies this week to make sure that effective data privacy and protection is a part of their consumer services.

In his speech at the general membership meeting of the Chief Information Officers at the Crowne Plaza in Quezon City, NPC chief Raymund Enriquez Liboro said that the telcos must compete with each other in terms of price, performance, and privacy.

Liboro also mentioned that his agency will continue to raise awareness on data privacy protection through its “Privacy, Safety, Security and Trust (PSST!) Online” campaign, which seeks to provide the public with information and self-help tools they can use to protect themselves from the risk of data breaches when using online applications and services on their mobile and desktop devices.
