07 Apr NPC: No Data Migration Will Happen in Grab-Uber Deal
National Privacy Commission Chief Raymund Liboro assured the public last Friday that there will be no migration of personal data from Uber to Grab based their discussion with the ride-hailing company.
Liboro also said that Grab will be complying with the Data Privacy Law and will not collect Uber customer data such as names, phone number, email address, and credit card details. Grab Philippines head Brian Cu likewise said that Uber will only be sharing driver data, which will only be available once the driver has given his consent.
There are currently around 1.2 million Uber customers in the Philippines, according to NPC.
