NPC Extends Incident Report Deadline

The National Privacy Commission recently announced that is will be extending the deadline for submission of security incident reports from March 31 to June 30, 2018.

Privacy Commissioner Raymund Liboro said that they are aiming to make a more concise version of the annual report that will be easier for DPOs (data protection officers) to prepare. They are also exploring more ways to align the report with the requirements of other privacy regulations on international data flows such as the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and APEC-CBPR (Cross Border Privacy Rules).

The NPC chief added that the reports are an essential signpost of any PIC’s commitment to protecting the personal data of customers and employees.
