19 Jan NPC Announces Plans for Creation of Data Privacy Council
At the first Data Privacy Stakeholders Assembly last January 16, NPC chief Raymund E. Liboro announced that the commission is planning to create a Data Privacy Council which will be launched during the National Privacy Awareness Week in May 2018.
Liboro revealed the formation of the Preparatory Committee during the assembly and said that the Council will be a multi-stakeholder consultative body which will be composed of representatives from different sectors.
According to Liboro, a stakeholder-based approach will be more effective in promoting data privacy accountability across all sectors. He further revealed that the Commission aims to build privacy resilient companies and sectors, as well as implement enforcement this 2018.
