11 May New Zealand Awards First Privacy Trust Marks to Trade Me and RealMe
It was reported this week that New Zealand’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner had awarded its new Privacy Trust Mark to the RealMe and Trade Me’s Transparency Reporting websites as parts of its Privacy Week.
The privacy watchdog says that those given the Mark is recognized for providing New Zealanders assurance and confidence that their product or service has been designed with their privacy interests in mind.
RealMe is an identity verification website run by the Department of Internal Affairs while Trade Me, according to Privacy Commissioner John Edwards, is the only agency in New Zealand that participates in transparency reporting ‘above and beyond what is required of it by law”.
